ASL LOGISTICS EXPLORES ADDITIONAL CROSS-BORDER TRANSPORTATION ROUTE BETWEEN VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA

20 January 2024

Since obtaining the Multimodal International Transport Business License in 2015 and the Cross-Border Transport License in 2018 from the Ministry of Transport, ASL Logistics has consistently operated various international transportation services, particularly focusing on cross-border routes between Vietnam and Cambodia.

For several years now, ASL Logistics has continuously facilitated the transportation of stable and diverse shipments to meet the needs of our customers through the Moc Bai (Bavet) border gate and nearby gates in Tay Ninh Province by road. According to statistics from the Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance, in 2023, the Vietnam-Cambodia trade turnover reached nearly USD 8 billion. Despite a decrease compared to the same period in 2022, the bilateral trade has many positive aspects, with Vietnam remaining Cambodia's third-largest trading partner and the largest trading partner within ASEAN.

To explore additional opportunities for import-export development between the two countries and meet the transportation needs of our customers, the directors and senior executives from ASL Logistics directly conducted a survey on the cross-border transportation route between Vietnam and Cambodia through the Le Thanh - Oyadav border gate in Gia Lai province (bordering Ratanakiri province, Cambodia) to understand and explore the potential for opening new import-export routes through our neighboring country, Cambodia.

The General Director of ASL Logistics, Ms. Võ Thị Phương Lan, along with some managers from the company, works with the Customs at the Lệ Thanh - Oyadav Border Gate, Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia.

Recently, the Management Board of the provincial Economic Zone and the Management Board of the Lethanh - Oyadav International Border Gate also agreed and signed a memorandum of understanding on coordinated border gate management. In this agreement, both parties decided to operate the border gate from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM every day of the week, including Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year). This arrangement aims to handle special cases at the border according to the requests of both sides and enhance the import-export capacity of the two countries.

In the coming time, ASL will continue to invest in additional transportation vehicles to increase the transport capacity of our fleet, which includes more than 50 tractors and a fleet of small trucks ranging from 1-5 tons that have been licensed for interprovincial transport, directly transporting goods in Cambodia.
ASL Logistics confidently affirms its capability and productivity in providing stable cross-border transportation services, helping customers save time and optimize costs. Additionally, ASL holds a Customs Broker License, enabling us to represent customers in quickly completing import-export customs procedures.
