PROVINCES WITH EXPORT TURNOVER OF MORE THAN 10 BILLION USD IN 2023

Although the country's export turnover in 2023 decreased by 4.6% compared to 2022, many localities still strive to achieve over 10 billion USD.

According to the Vietnam Import-Export Report 2023 announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on May 16, out of 63 provinces/cities in the country, there are 9 localities achieving a total export turnover of more than 10 billion USD. Ho Chi Minh City ranked first, followed by localities: Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Dong Nai, Hanoi and Phu Tho.

Thai Nguyen is one of 9 localities with export turnover of over 10 billion USD by 2023.

Notably, among the 9 localities with export turnover of more than 10 billion USD , only Hai Phong and Bac Giang had positive growth in 2023. Specifically, Hai Phong reached 26,797,379,584 USD, an increase of 7.4% over compared to 2022 (equivalent to an increase in turnover of 1.84 billion USD). This result also helps Hai Phong surpass Thai Nguyen to reach the 4th position in the country's exports.

Bac Giang achieved a turnover of 24,499,431,359 USD, an increase of 8.3% compared to 2022 (equivalent to an increase in turnover of nearly 1.9 billion USD). With this result, Bac Giang surpassed Dong Nai to rank 6th in the country in terms of export turnover.

The remaining localities all decreased compared to the previous year, in which Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, and Dong Nai had high decreases.

With plenty of efforts to overcome difficulties, in the first months of 2024, many localities are accelerating exports, trying to regain growth momentum. For example, in Thai Nguyen, in 2024, the industry and trade sector sets an export value target of 29,310 million USD, an increase of 8% increas compared to the estimate for 2023.

* Compared to 2022, the number of provinces/cities with export turnover of 10 billion USD or more in 2023 decreases by 1 locality. The locality that falls off this list is Hai Duong, with a turnover in 2023 reaching 9,455,304,933 USD (in 2022 reaching 10,460,834,401 USD).
