APRIL 2023 FINE ART CERAMICS EXPORTS UP AFTER THREE-MONTH DECLINE

Vietnamese exports of fine art ceramics reached US$13.5 million in April, showing an increase following three consecutive months of decline, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The figure was up by 6.7% against March, but down by 44.8% year on year.

Generally, in the first 4 months of 2023, Vietnam's export of fine art ceramics reached US$52.95 million, down 48.0% over the same period in 2022.

In terms of goods, in March 2023, the export of ceramic pots reached US$ 8.35 million, down 8.5% compared to February 2023 and down 63.4% compared to March 2022.Generally in the first quarter of 2023, the export of ceramic pots accounted for 69.5% of the total export turnover of fine arts and ceramics of the whole country, reaching 27.42 million USD, down 53.4% over the same period in 2022.

Export of decorative ceramics in March 2023 reached US$3.13 million, up 17.8% compared to February 2023, down 37.2% compared to March 2022.Generally in the first quarter of 2023, decorative ceramic exports accounted for 22.2% of the country's total export turnover of fine art ceramics, reaching US$ 8.76 million, down 37.8% over the same period in 2022. .

Export of household ceramics in March 2023 reached USD 842 thousand, up 18.3% compared to February 2023, down 14.2% compared to March 2022; export of ceramic vases reached 278 thousand USD, up 32.9% compared to February 2022 and down 54.0% compared to March 2022.

Generally in the first quarter of 2023, the export of household ceramics reached USD 2.51 million, down 15.4% over the same period in 2022; export of ceramic vases reached 640.85 thousand USD, down 49.9%.

Regarding the export market, in March 2023, Vietnam's export of fine art ceramics to the EU market reached USD 4.36 million, up 7.7% compared to February 2023, down 55.5% compared to February 2023. March 2022.Generally, in the first quarter of 2023, the export of fine art ceramics to the EU accounted for 33.4% of the total export turnover of this item of the country, reaching 13.18 million USD, down 48.5% over the same period last year. 2022.

According to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), Vietnam is currently the second largest supplier of fine art ceramics to the EU in the first two months of 2023, accounting for 3.6% of the total import turnover of ceramics. This product is from the EU.

Export of fine art ceramics to the US market in March 2023 reached 3,885 million USD, down 27.9% compared to February 2023, down 65.9% compared to March 2022.Generally in the first quarter of 2023, the export of fine art ceramics to the US accounted for 38.2% of the country's total export turnover of this item, reaching US$15.06 million, down 51.1% over the same period last year. 2022.

According to statistics of the US International Trade Commission, imports of fine art ceramics (HS 6911, 6912, 6913, 6914) of the US in the first two months of 2023 reached US$318.22 million, down 33.2% compared to same period in 2022; in which, imports from most of the main markets such as China, Portugal, Mexico, Thailand, Spain... fell sharply.

In contrast, US imports of fine art ceramics from Vietnam in the first two months of 2023 increased by 10.6% over the same period in 2022, reaching 18.61 million USD.The proportion of US imports of fine art ceramics from Vietnam in the first 2 months of 2023 also increased to 5.8% from 3.5% in the first 2 months of 2022.

Decorative ceramics and figurines (HS 6913) are the type most imported by the US from Vietnam, accounting for 85% of the total import turnover of fine art ceramics from Vietnam in the first 2 months of 2023, reaching 15 .76 million USD, up 0.5% over the same period in 2022.Notably, imports of ceramics with HS code 6914 from the US from Vietnam increased very strongly, reaching 2.43 million USD, up 192. 8% over the same period in 2022.
