IMPORT AND EXPORT REACHED VND 60 BILLION/MONTH FOR THE FIRST TIME

Import and export results in August were prosperous and reached 60 billion USD / month for the first time in 2023.

According to preliminary statistics released by the General Department of Customs on the afternoon of September 11, in August, Vietnam's total import-export turnover reached 62.08 billion USD, up 8.8% over the previous month (equivalent to an increase of 5.01 billion USD).

In which, total exports reached 32.76 billion USD, up 9% (equivalent to an increase of 2.69 billion USD) and imports reached 29.32 billion USD, up 8.6% (equivalent to an increase of 2.32 billion USD).


Import and export turnover in August reached the highest result since the beginning of the year

Thus, this is the first month from the beginning of 2023, the country's import and export turnover reached 60 billion USD / month.

In the previous 7 months, import and export was usually at more than 50 billion USD / month, even in January and February did not reach 50 billion USD / month.

The results achieved in August brought the total import and export turnover of the whole country in the first 8 months of the year to 436.44 billion USD. However, this result is still down 12.8%, corresponding to a decrease of $ 64.21 billion compared to the same period in 2022.

In the first 8 months of the year, exports reached 228.17 billion USD, down 9.8% (equivalent to a decrease of 24.79 billion USD) and imports reached 208.27 billion USD, down 15.9% (corresponding to a decrease of 39.42 billion USD).

Thus, in August, the whole country had a trade surplus of 3.44 billion USD and in the first 8 months of the year, Vietnam had a trade surplus of 19.9 billion USD.
