On the world market, according to statistics from the International Trade Center, Brazil's cashew nut exports in the first quarter of 2023 reached 3.31 thousand tons, worth 19.47 million USD, up 11.3% in value. volume and increased 28% in value over the same period last year. In which, Brazil's cashew exports to the US, Netherlands and Canada markets grew by double digits, but exports to Mexico decreased.
According to statistics from the Chinese Customs, the country's cashew imports in the first quarter of 2023 reached 8.42 thousand tons, worth $33.88 million, up 45% in volume, but down 0. 6% in value over the same period last year.
In which, China imported approximately 4.72 thousand tons of cashews from Vietnam, worth 27.72 million USD, up 20.6% in volume and 7.2% in value. Vietnam's cashew nut market share in total imports from China decreased from 67.41% in the first quarter of 2022 to 56.05% in the first quarter of 2023.
Notably, China tends to shift to importing cashews from African markets such as Benin, Ivory Coast, Togo, and Tanzania.
