NETHERLANDS INCREASES RUBBER IMPORTS FROM VIETNAMESE MARKET DURING THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, rubber exports to the Netherlands reached 3.03 thousand tons, worth 4.38 million USD, up 31.2% in volume and 11.3% in value over the same period in 2022.


In the first half of 2023, the Netherlands increased its rubber imports from the Vietnamese market.

The Import and Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) quoted statistics from the General Department of Customs as saying that in the first three months of 2023, Vietnam's rubber exports to the Netherlands reached 3.03 thousand tons, worth 4.38 million USD, up 31.2% in volume and 11.3% in value over the same period in 2022; The average export price of rubber to this market reached 1,447 USD/ton, down 15.1% over the same period in 2022.

In the first 3 months of 2023, Vietnam exported to the Netherlands mainly natural rubber. In which, the SVR CV60 type was exported to the Netherlands the most, accounting for 53.2% of the total amount of rubber exported to the Netherlands in the first 3 months of 2023.

Next, Latex category accounted for 19.65% and SVR 3L accounted for 18.63% of total rubber exports to the Netherlands in the first 3 months of 2023.

The average export price of all kinds of rubber to the Netherlands in the first 3 months of 2023 mostly decreased compared to the same period in 2022, of which the biggest decrease was Latex, down 22.7%; SVR 10 decreased by 21.5%; SVR 3L down 20.1%; SVR CV60 down 18.3%…

According to the statistics of the International Trade Center (ITC), in 2022, Belgium, Germany, France, China, and Japan are the 5 largest markets supplying rubber to the Netherlands. Except for Belgium and Germany, Dutch rubber imports from these markets both increased in volume and value compared to 2021.

In 2022, Vietnam is the 10th largest rubber supplier to the Netherlands with 8.82 thousand tons, worth 16.13 million USD, up 53.7% in volume and 28.9% in value. compared to 2021. Vietnam's rubber market share accounted for 2.76% of the total rubber imports of the Netherlands, higher than the 2.02% in 2021.

Thus, in the Dutch market, Vietnam's rubber market share still accounts for a small proportion of the total amount of rubber imported from the Netherlands. Meanwhile, the Netherlands has boosted rubber imports from Thailand and China, so the rubber market share of these two markets in 2022 is also higher than in 2021.

After the period of influence of the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam's rubber industry is facing many difficulties and challenges from the world market and problems due to internal policy factors. These things limit the competitiveness of the rubber industry as well as Vietnamese rubber enterprises.

Competition between natural rubber producing and exporting countries will become more intense in terms of price, product quality, commercial reputation and the ability to meet increasingly stringent sustainability standards.

Accordingly, Vietnam's rubber industry must be uniformly implemented in terms of quality management across the country, strengthen the application of advanced techniques, restructure products according to market requirements, and expand investment. deep processing, step by step forming an auxiliary rubber industry; at the same time, continue to promote the reorganization of the rubber industry according to the production value chain, improving competitiveness in the international market.

On the other hand, Vietnam's natural rubber exports are still heavily dependent on China's consumption market and only partially meet the needs of other markets, thus facing many difficulties in market penetration other major countries such as the United States, Japan, the EU...

In the Dutch market, Vietnam's rubber has to compete with rubber from Thailand and Ivory Coast. Therefore, businesses need to diversify products to meet the needs of the Dutch market to boost exports to this market.
